A SMARK update….HOOORAY!

I sound like a broken record but it’s been a while since I’ve updated this blog with, well, really anything.  However, I do have news of the positive variety:  SMARK is officially done!  I finished my Master’s degree in Media Arts, got my movie shown at the end-of-semester student screenings and now it’s off into the world of media excellence (supposedly).

Truth be told, I am excited for this new venture.  I’ve been down this road before as a media professional when I got out of undergrad back in 1901 and I don’t see why this would be any more difficult.  Recession you say?  Whatever.  People get jobs all the time and I don’t see what I can’t be one of them.

Ah, SMARK you say.  You want to know what’s going on.  Well, like I said — it is done.  After months of tweaks and edits and ridiculously long exports, I came to a point where I said “This movie looks great and I am not ashamed.”  As a filmmaker, I am always self-conscious.  I mean, that two, hell THREE years of hard work on that screen, dripping with frustration and triumph and little fibers of my soul.  And now, after a year of madness, it is ready to go out to festivals.  Right now, only five festivals but once I get some more cash, maybe six or seven festivals.

I promise to update this blog with more information about SMARK and its actors.  We had a great crew and cast.  You should get to know them.  In the meantime, check out the trailer to SMARK elsewhere in this blog (ie: right above this post)

Peace,

Shawn Marek
